Mary Lou Hawkins

Leicester - Mary Lou Clark Hawkins, 72, of 22 Wintergreen Hollow Road, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 at her residence. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired from American Enka following 41 years of service. She was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church. Mrs. Hawkins was the daughter of the late Lowell David and Nettie Alice Lane Clark. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Franklin Hawkins. Surviving are her sons: David Ray Ellis, Ralph Stanley Turner, and Jeff Hawkins and wife Traci, all of Leicester; brothers: Gerald Ray Clark of Asheville, Clyde W. Clark of Leicester, and John Weaver Clark of Clyde; 4 grandchildren: Tina Waddell, Amy Waddell, Hali Hawkins and Hunter Hawkins; and great-grandson, Gabriel Vaughn Clements. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lee Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
