Woodfin Mary Lee Bridges Connor, 89, went to be with her Lord on Friday, September 1, 2017 at her residence. A native of Ellenboro, she had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She retired from Belks, and was formerly employed with Bon Marche and Myers Arnold. She was a former member of Elk Mountain Baptist Church of which she was very active for over 60 years, and was a member and past president of the Woodfin Golden Age Club. She was a daughter of the late James Wythe Bridges and Jane Gwendolyn Wiggins Bridges and was the wife for 60 years of James McDean Connor, Sr. who died March 21, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her son, James McDean Mike Connor, Jr. and sister, Ruby Mae Bridges and brother, James Paul Bridges. Surviving are her grandson, James McDean Connor III of Raleigh; granddaughter, Ashley Connor Taylor and husband Eddie of Candler; great granddaughter, Sydney Lyn Connor of Raleigh and daughter-in-law, Debi Bell and husband Lee of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Lee Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Elk Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 AM Tuesday at the funeral home, and at other times, the family will be at the home of Lee and Debi Bell, 163 Elk Mountain Road, Asheville.
