Mary Kate Banks

Asheville - Mary Kate Tipton Banks, 79, of 25 Reynolds Mountain Blvd., passed away Monday, February 13, 2006 at Emerald Ridge Health Center following a period of declining health. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1947. She retired as a heat set operator at American Enka in 1984, following 42 years of service. Mrs. Banks was the daughter of the late Walter and Dalhia Rose Bryan Tipton, and was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Tipton. Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn Chandler of Asheville; her son, Kenneth Banks of Asheville; three grandchildren: Tammy Radford, Stephanie Banks, and Caitlyn Banks; two great-grandchildren: Haley Radford and Gabriel Banks; and two brothers: George Tipton of Arden and Harry Tipton of Shallow Water, TX. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
