Mary K. "Aunt Mez" Alexander

Asheville Mary Katherine Alexander, 62, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center after an extended illness. Mary was born in Asheville on December 27, 1946 to Kathleen Mary Reese Alexander and the late Coy Gordon Alexander. Mary was the proprietor of an antiques business in downtown Asheville before her illness. In addition to her father, Mary is preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Gordon Wood and a brother, Bronson Keith Alexander. She is survived by her loving mother, Kathleen M. Alexander Shope of Mills River; sisters, Carolyn Faye McLemore of Louisville, TN, Sharon Annette Robinson of Asheville and Rebecca Doreen Briggs of Easley, SC; brothers, Donald Jerry Alexander, William Eugene Alexander, Dennis Carl Alexander all of Asheville and Douglas Coy Alexander of Mills River; 22 nephews and nieces and numerous grand-nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.
