WEST ASHEVILLE Mary Irene Cowan Warren, 85, of 84 Shadowlawn Drive went to be with her Lord & Savior Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. Mrs. Warren was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She retired from Mission Hospitals where she had served in the Laundry Department and was a member of Asheville United Christian Church and member of the Ladies Auxillary of the VFW Post # 891. She was a daughter of the late Carroll Augustus and Emmaline King Cowan and was also preceded in death by her husband, John Everette Warren who died July 6, 1969 and by her infant daughter. Surviving are her daughters, Darlene Warren Oliver of Candler and Joan Warren Haney of Asheville; sons, John E. Warren, Jr. of Fairview, Phillip Warren of Candler and Tim Warren of Asheville; sister, Edna Turner of Candler; 18 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Nix and Rev. John C. Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 PM Monday at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at her home. Memorials may be made CarePartners Hospice, P.O.
