Martha Mae Sellers

Asheville - Martha Mae Sellers, 86, of Asheville and formerly of Brevard, went to be with her family Monday, January 16, 2006 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals following a period of declining health. A native of Buncombe County, she resided in Transylvania County until her retirement from Ecusta as a self-educated Research Librarian in 1990. She was the daughter of the late A.B. and Crate Cathey Sellers. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Edith Sellers Wakefield, and her brothers: Paul, Harry, and Milton Sellers. Her photography, rock and mineral collection, extensive knowledge of our beautiful native plants, birds, and waterfalls, her mountain stories, and especially her sense of humor was shared by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed by her brother-in-law, Joseph C. Wakefield, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great, great-nieces and nephews, and many, many special friends. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Friday at Green Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Harry Sellers officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 PM Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
