Asheville - Margie Lee Gasperson Searcy, 70, of 580 Pole Creasman Road died Saturday, May 4, 2002 in a local hospital following a long illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was formerly employed with the Buncombe County School System. She was a daughter of Elizabeth Flynn of Candler and the late William M. Gasperson and wife of the late Harley Luther Searcy who died in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary E. Hayes and Mollie Gasperson. Surviving in addition to her Mother are her sons, Wayne L. Searcy of Asheville, Robert L. Searcy of Candler, Charles W. Searcy of Canton, Lloyd E. Searcy and Mike G. Searcy both of the home; sisters, Daisy Gasperson and Hilda Gasperson both of Candler and Donna Kay Collins of Asheville; brother, Arnold Max Gasperson of Arden; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; special friends, Don Sims of Asheville and Donna Willis of Arden. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. Burial will be in Shepherd Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Josh Stroupe, Willis Sims, Don Hawkins, Leavon Searcy, Jerry Collins, Buzz Collins, Ricky Searcy and Charlie Henderson. Her family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home.
