Margie Katherine Griffin

Candler Margie Katherine West Griffin, 86, formerly of 1085 Jupiter Road, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Griffin had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She worked for Vanderbilt for 20 years before retiring from Square D. She was a member of Little Sandy Methodist Church. Mrs. Griffin was the daughter of the late Thurman and Annie Duckett West, and the wife of Samuel Frank Griffin, who passed away in 1993. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Rachel Freeman, Sylvia Henson and Georgie West; and brothers: George, Jim, John and Virgil West. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Bullman and husband Wendell of Weaverville; sons: Phillip Griffin and wife Ronda of Asheville, Jimmy Griffin and wife Joan of Fountain Inn, SC, and Michael Griffin and wife Sandy of Marshall; sister, Dora Netherton of Asheville; 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bo Bullman officiating. Burial will follow in Little Sandy Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
