Asheville - Margaret Jane Jones Price lost her ten year battle with cancer Thursday, May 3, 2007 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. Margaret Jane was born on March 19, 1938 to her biological parents, the late Roy Jones and Christine Jones Foutz, but at the age of six weeks was raised by her beloved grandparents, the late Norman and Margaret (Doll) Jones, better known to Margaret as Daddy Paw and Mama. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Elizabeth Price, and sister, Nancy Corbin. Margaret Jane attended Emma High School and was on the girls basketball team from 1952-54. She retired from Bussman Division - Cooper Industries in 2000. She loved sports, working in her flowers, decorating her home, traveling and shopping. She also loved her special time with her dogs, of whom she considered her children. Margaret Jane was a member of Grassy Branch Baptist Church where she was very active in arranging the Ambassador Senior Citizen trips. She loved to volunteer her time at Thoms Rehabilitation Center, and attended Camp Bluebird Cancer Survivors Retreat. She was also active in the walks for cancer research. Margaret Jane and her husband Buddy Gene Price, Sr. were married for 52 years. They were blessed with three sons: Buddy Gene Price, Jr. of Asheville, Ronnie Lee Price of Orlando, FL, and Jeffrey Lane Price of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter, Ansley Elizabeth Price of Asheville; and sisters: Doris Edwards and husband Homer Gene of Asheville, Joanna Blitz and husband Smite of Oklahoma, Linda Rice and husband Doug of Yadkinville, NC, and Janice Smith of Salmon, NC. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday at Grassy Branch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ken Sausedo and Rev. Lester Crayton officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home, and at other times, at he family home, 165 Gashes Creek Road, Asheville, NC.
