Macie Moses Galloway Vance

November 30, 1923 — October 5, 2008

Asheville Macie Moses Galloway Vance, 84, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, October 5, 2008 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Franklin, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1954. She was a member of Grassy Branch Baptist Church. Macie was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family very dearly. Macie was the daughter of the late O.E. and Dessie Moses. She was also preceded in death by her first husband of 54 years, Clarence Galloway; as well as 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 grandchild. Surviving are her husband of 7 years, James Vance; children: Barbara (Paul) Smiley of Asheville; Randell (Delores) Galloway of Murfreesboro, TN, Wayne Galloway of Arden, Steve M. Galloway of Asheville, Karen (Sonny) Disher of Asheville, Rhonda (Gene) Anders of Asheville and Denise Galloway Corn of Fairview; step-children: Vanessa (Rick) Bartlett of Black Mountain and Valerie (Danny) Webb of Marion. She is also survived by 3 sisters, 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great, great-grandchild, 8 step grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren, and 2 step great, great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday at Grassy Branch Baptist Church, with the Pastor Ken Sausedo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8:30 PM Wednesday at the church.
