Asheville Loyd Thomas Duckett, 83, of 200 Tunnel Road - Apt #101, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at the John F. Keever Solace Center following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 1992 from Telco Credit Union after 14 years of service. Mr. Duckett was formerly employed with Avondale Mills Mfg. Co. after 8 years of service and Colonial Bakeries for 18 years. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Duckett was the son of the late Edward Theadore and Zora Hipps Duckett. He was also peceded in death by his first wife, Pearl Surrett Duckett and 8 brothers and 5 sisters. Surviving are his wife, Louise Stanley Duckett of the home; daughters, Joyce JoAnn Thomason and husband Gay of Burnsville, Peggy Gail Loftis of Asheville and Theresa Ann Lemonds and husband Terry of Black Mountain; sister, Edna Bryant of Asheville; several nieces and nephews, including his niece Virginia Green and husband and his best friend, Bruce Green of Weaverville; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Private graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with the Rev. Gene Turner officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
