Louise L. Reemes

Asheville - Louise Laughter Reemes, 81, of 27 Beechwood Road slipped away Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Grace Health Care of Asheville. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She retired in 1984 from St. Josephs Hospital after 20 years of service, was a member of First Baptist Church for 65 years, was a 1956 graduate of Duke University and Honor Graduate of Louisiana State University as a Registered Nurse for Cardiac Care. She also was a volunteer with: St. Josephs Hospital and a life member of the N.C. Grange. Mrs. Reemes was a daughter of the late John Franklin Laughter and Fannie Lance Laughter and wife of the late Ray A. Reemes. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Tom Penland and Bob Penland; sisters, Betty Wilson, Ruth Buckner and Grace Buie and brother, James H. Laughter. Surviving are her daughter, Anne Nehme of the home and her adopted daughter, S.A. McClure also of the home; son, William Penland; sister, Barbara Wagner of Boca Raton, FL; brother, John H. Laughter of Panama City, FL; brother-in-law, Dr. Harold B. Buie of Huntsville, AL; daughters-in-law, Jill and Tresa Penland; grandchildren, Bryan, Angela, Darrell, Jonathan, Michelle and Brandy; great-granddaughter, Candice; several nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Carolyn Arthur. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Thursday In the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. David Blackmon officiating. Entombment will follow in Lewis Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 10 to 11 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to: Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, N.C. 28731.
