Asheville - Louis Lou Cundiff, 80, of 15 Fieldcrest Circle, Tiny Farms, died Thursday, July 18, 2002 following a period of declining health. A native of Alexander, Minnesota, he grew up in Covington, Kentucky and has resided in Buncombe County for the past 59 years. He was the son of the late Louis Moletus Cundiff, Sr. and Edith Ann Cundiff. Mr. Cundiff retired after 29 years of service from the National Climatic Center. After his retirement, he was a manager of Eckerds for 10 years and worked for 8 years with the Biltmore Company. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He was a W.W. II U.S. Army-Air Corp veteran and retired after 29 years of service from the U.S. Army Reserve. Surviving are his wife, Gloria Genevieve Fulp Cundiff of the home; daughter, Betty Jane B.J. Plemmons and husband, Richard of Asheville; son, Louis Martin Marty Cundiff and wife, Jan of Leicester; sister, Jewel Case of Twenty-Nine Palms, California; grandchildren, Chris Plemmons and wife, Suzanne, Heidi Hill and husband, Keith, Holly Shriner and husband, Foster, Lauren Cundiff and Martin Cundiff; great grand daughters, Avienne Shriner and Alexandria Plemmons; step great grandchildren, Amanda and Adam Fayssoux and Jenelle, Loren and Rick Shriner. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen and Heidi Hill officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army Reserve. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home at other times the family will be at the residence.
