Lottie Keener Pace

January 23, 1917 — September 12, 2009

ASHEVILLE Lottie Lucille Jones Keener Pace, 92, went to be with her Lord Saturday, September 12, 2009. A native of Haywood County she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where also a member of the Adult #4 Sunday School Class. Mrs. Pace retired in 1982 following 15 years of service as a saleslady at K-Mart and was formerly employed for over 20 years with the Asheville Hosiery Mill. She was the daughter of the late Charles N. Jones and Esther Warren Jones and wife of the late Charles Alexander Pace who died in 1984 and Jess Hilliard Keener who died in 1956. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Clyde Nolan Keener who died in 1948, Jess Hilliard Keener, Jr. who died in 1976 and a great granddaughter, Jessica Young Simms, who died in 2002. Surviving are her granddaughter, Marilyn Young and husband David of Charlotte; great grandchildren: Jonathan Young and Laura Micek; sister, Bertha Gaddy of Asheville; two step-sons, Charles and Rodger Pace and two step-daughters, Dorothy Ledford and Aileen Wilson, all of Charlotte; and a number of step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thanks to her family, with whom she made her home, Jim and Barbara Coddington and their daughters, Ann Marie and Mary Ann. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Carson Moseley officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, West Asheville. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
