Lorena Mccall Cassada

Leicester - Lorena McCall Cassada, 84, of 82 Jones Road, Leicester, slipped quietly away to be with Jesus July 28, 2002 after a period of declining health. She was born September 8, 1917 to parents Rickman and Elvie Hoxit McCall of Transylvania County. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Garland Cassada, and 3 brothers, Alfred, Robert, and Rastus. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Winston Cassada of the home; a son, Donald and wife Betty of Hartshorne, OK; daughters, Wanda and husband Jerry Robinson of Leicester, Vivian and husband J.B. Davis of Fairview, and Hazel Penland of Enka; two brothers, Jimmy and Brownie McCall; five sisters, Amy Plemmons, Annie Hoxit, Gladys Hyden, Artie Sorrells, and Mary Jane Hoxit; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson. She was a devoted wife and homemaker, and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a very giving person, opening her heart to all in need. She will be truly missed. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 31 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Sluder officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the services. Burial will be held at Highland Baptist Church Cemetery, Leicester.
