Lola Hyde Smith

Reidsville, N.C. - Lola Hyde Smith, 87, formerly of Asheville, died Saturday May 4, 2002 at Annie Pen Hospital. A native of Graham County, NC. She had lived most of her life in Buncombe County. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, West Asheville Community Center and had worked for Sears Credit Department. She was a daughter of the late Albert and Ellie Crisp Hyde and wife of the late Bill Jenkins, Harvey West and J.C. Smith. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Payne, Bonnie Crisp, Olen Roberts and Birdie Sawyers and brother, Paul Hyde. Surviving are her son, Larry Jenkins of Reidsville; sister, Phobie Watkins of Hendersonville; three grandchildren, one great grandson and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Green Hills Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Her family will receive friends from 7 to 8 Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
