Lois Brown

October 12, 1924 — December 2, 2012

Asheville Lois Ivetta Brown, 88, formerly of Asheville Terrace Apartments, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Ripley, NY, Ms. Brown had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She retired from Mission Hospitals as a Medical Technologist, and was a Veteran of the US Army Air Corps during World War II. She was also a longtime member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church. Ms. Brown was the daughter of the late John Miller and Thelma Emma Smith Rhinehart. She was also preceded in death by her first-born grandson, Thomas Shelton. Surviving are her children: Nancy Davis of Asheville, Jane Doe of Smyrna, TN, and Jo Anne Shelton of Asheville; grandchildren: Sean Davis, Stephanie Davis, Katie Carney, Tom Doe, Patrick Doe, Laura Holland, and Jamie Ketterman; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Carrie Lee Gregory of Conneaut, OH; and brother, Brooke Rhinehart of Jamestown, NY. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Noon Thursday at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Patricia Mouer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to St. Lukes Episcopal Church, 219 Chunns Cove Road, Asheville, NC 28805.
