Lloyd James Hill

June 23, 1948 — September 16, 2014

Lloyd James Hill, 66, of 4 Summit Drive, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a 1966 graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School, a 1976 graduate of Cecils Business College and a 2007 graduate of A-B Tech with a AAS degree in Criminal Justice and received his certification as Detention Officer. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, was formerly employed with Steelcase for over 20 years and was currently serving since June 2007 with the Buncombe County Sheriffs Office Detention Center as a Detention Officer. He was a son of the late William Luther Hill and Ruth Helen Mauck Hill. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Doris June Ricker Hill of the home; daughter, Vicki Miller, grandson, James Miller and wife Amanda and great granddaughter, Rachel Mae Miller all of Arden; 1 sister and 2 brothers and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 19, 2014 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. David Ingram and Rev. Dr. Norm Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery, Skyland with honors provided by the Buncombe County Sheriffs Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
