Linton T. Summey, Jr.

Linton T. Summey, Jr., 86, of Candler, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at Pisgah Manor Health Care. A native and life long resident of Buncombe County. He was the son of the late Linton Summey, Sr. and Nellie Viola Austin Summey. He was also preceded in death by sisters: Ruby Anderson, Nora Lee Cogburn, Willena Sams, Robina Summey; brothers: Benny Summey and Roger Summey. Linton was a member of Grace Baptist Church on Haywood Road, and retired from both Colonial Baking Company and NorFolk Southern Railway. Surviving are his wife Marjorie Worley Summey; daughter, Linda Joyce Chatham (Roy) of Candler; brothers: Bill Summey (Wanda) of Candler, Jimmy Summey (Sally) of Canton, Louie Summey (Pam) of Canton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, March 3, 2014 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Pruett officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 till 2 PM Monday at the funeral home.
