Linda Marie Conklin

Asheville - Linda Marie Shepherd Conklin, 56, of 111 1/2 Lees Creek Road, went to be with her Lord Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center following a period of declining health. Mrs. Conklin was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She enjoyed her craftwork and was formerly employed with Reliance Electric Co. for 19 years and also worked for Kearfott and Bussman. She was a daughter of the late Ossie Ervin and Pauline Buchanan Shepherd and was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Jean Surrett. Surviving are her daughters, Traci Mundy Hoglen and husband, Sgt. Jerry Hoglen, U.S. Army Retired of Canton and Lisa Mundy Bell and husband, Sgt. Chris Bell of Summerfield, Fl; grandchildren, Matt Robbins of Asheville, Dan Robbins, Amber Hoglen and Nathaniel Hoglen all of Canton, Jessica Bell of Weaverville, and Specialist Jonathan Bell of Ft. Bragg; great granddaughter, Ericka Bell of Weaverville; brother, Ervin Shepherd, Jr. of Candler; sisters, Josephine Shepherd of Bennettsville, S.C., Barbara Vess of Candler and Judy Taylor of Burnsville; 13 nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Central United Methodist Church, 34 Church Street, Canton,N.C. with the Rev. David Christy officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services in the Fellowship Hall of the church until 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
