Lillie Mae Wilkes

Asheville Lillie Mae Wilkes, 92, of Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Wilkes was born January 16, 1923 in Buncombe County to the Late Dewey and Nettie Buckner Rogers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Wilkes, Jr., granddaughter, Letitia Tarske; brothers, Rev. Howard Rogers and wife, Helen and Kenneth Rogers and wife, Faye Rogers; daughter in law, Evelyn L. Wilkes. She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church for many years and had attended Light of Life Baptist Church until her current illness. Surviving are her sons, Ray Wilkes (Paula) and Rev. Tommy Wilkes (Elaine); daughter, Gail Knight; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Hubert Rogers (Virginia) and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 10:30 am Thursday, May 28, 2015 at New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Danny Little and Rev. Mark Crowder officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home and at other times at Mrs. Wilkes home.
