Lettre Griffin

Hendersonville Lettre Belle Revels Griffin, 89, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House. A native of Lockhart, SC, Mrs. Griffin had resided in Asheville since 1951 before moving to Hendersonville in 1994. She worked in Housekeeping at St. Joseph Hospital. She was a member of Stoney Mountain Baptist Church, and a former member of Sunrise Baptist Church. Mrs. Griffin was the daughter of the late Havis and Florida Connor Revels, and the wife of the late Clarence R. Griffin. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Hutchinson Bryant. Surviving are her daughters: Teresa G. Murray and husband Rev. Bruce Murray, and Denise G. Griffith; grandchildren: Jeff Hutchinson, Rev. Keith Hutchinson, Jimmy Murray, Cyndi Ogle, Becky Drummond, Joshua Turner, Michelle Jimenez, and Gregory Murray; 16 great-grandchildren; and brother, Larry O. Revels. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Friday at Freedom Baptist Church, 50 Rice Road, Asheville, with the Rev. Bruce Murray, Rev. Larry Appleby, and Rev. Keith Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 2:30 PM at the church.
