Fairview Leona Sue Spainhour Garrison, 46, of Jacoby Lane, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 12, 2006 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital Systems. A native of Mecklenburg County, she had resided in Buncombe County for the past eight years. She was of the Methodist faith, and worked in the shipping and receiving area of Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse. Leona was the daughter of Virginia Hines Spainhour of Cherryville. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Spainhour, and her maternal grandparents, Leonard and Eunice Hines. In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband, Raymond Garrison of the home; sisters: Nancy Spencer and husband Keith of Lovingston, VA, Linda Atkinson of Charlotte, Elizabeth Neal of Gastonia, and Laura Hoover and husband Bobby of Cooperstown, PA; brothers: Eddie Spainhour and wife Nancy of Rockwell, NC and Chris Spainhour of Mt. Airy; and several other family members. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at Cane Creek Cemetery, with her brother-in-law, the Rev. Terry Banks, and Rev. Jeff Burchette officiating. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Garrisons mother-in-law, Sue Garrison, 951 Old Fort Road, Fairview. In honor of Leonas love for animals, and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Asheville Humane Society, 72 Lees Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
