Lena Clark Hill

Leicester - Lena Clark Hill, 88, of 56 Hayes Cove Rd. died Wednesday February 19, 2003 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center following a brief illness. A native of Mitchell County. Mrs. Hill has resided in Buncombe County since 1942. She was formerly employed with Kellwood and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where also member of the Adult Bible Class. She was the daughter of the late Moses P. and Cleo Patra Adkins Laws. Also preceding her in death was her first husband, David Clark and her son, Wayne Clark. Surviving are her husband, Willie Bill Hill of the home; daughters, Wanda Hayes and Elaine Couch both of Leicester, Jean McCoy of Candler and Kay Rogers of Asheville; son, W.B. Clark of Leicester; daughter in law, Mary Nell Clark of Candler; half-brothers, Robert Laws and Mose Laws both of Hickory and Milton Laws of Bakersville; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Scroggs officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the residence.
