Lee Wallin

January 22, 1945 — December 4, 2014

Asheville Lee Everett Wallin, 69, of Asheville, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital. A native of Madison County, Mr. Wallin had resided in Buncombe County since 1978. He retired in 1991 from BellSouth, and retired from the Biltmore Company in 2008 in order to spend more time with his grandchildren. He was a US Army veteran, being stationed in South Korea. Mr. Wallin was a member of French Broad Lodge #292, Marshall, NC, for over 46 years. He served as Past Master, Treasurer, Secretary, Certified Lecturer, Past District Deputy Grand Lecturer, and Past District Grand Master. Mr. Wallin was the son of the late Phil and Erna Wallin. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Hilma Gannon; and brothers: John Wallin and Oliver Wallin. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Sue Wallin, of the home; son, Joe Wallin of Asheville; daughter, Jennifer Duvall and husband David of Mills River; six grandchildren; and sisters: Barbara Parker of Front Royal, VA and Beulah Freeman of Asheville. The family will receive friends from 4:30 6:30 PM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the NC Masonic Home for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
