CANDLER Lee Roy Searsey, 66, of 815 Case Cove Road passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired from East-West Trucking Company where he instructed Truck Driving and was a former car salesman with Robinson Brothers Used Cars. He served as President of the Armadillo Flats Radio Club and went by the handle of Fat Roy. Mr. Searsey was a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church and was the son of the late William Henry Searsey and Annie Leona Fowler Searsey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Camby Searsey who died in 1997, daughter, Sandra Diane Sandy Searsey and sister, Frances Searsey. Surviving are his sisters, Irene Collins & husband Ralph of Easley, SC and Thelma Taylor of Candler; brothers, Dillard Searsey of Asheville & Sebring, FL and Elmer Fudd Searsey of Candler; nieces, Kathey Dugan and husband, Mike of Anderson, SC, Debbie Parries and husband, Ricky of Charlotte, Cindy Porter and husband, Randy of Easley, SC, Freda Mulvaney of Candler and Melody Fletcher of Charlotte; nephews, Eddie Taylor and wife, Ashley and Ronnie Searsey and wife, Lisa all of Candler and Gary Collins of Asheville; 6 great nephews, Bryson, Riley, Chad, Luke, Dillon and Thad. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Houston officiating. Burial will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11AM Tuesday prior to services at the funeral home.
