Lawrence Wesley Penland

Asheville - Lawrence Wesley Penland, 74, of 224 Westwood Place, died Thursday - January 3, 2008 following an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was the son of the late John Henry and Carmen Rose Whitted Penland. He was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Penland. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Irene Ward Penland of the home; daughter, Misty Dryman and husband Donald of Hendersonville; sister, Carolyn Tolley and husband Frank of Asheville; grandchildren, Tabitha, Kaitlyn and Kasey. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr., Rev. Jerry Young and Rev. Allen Rash officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery with Military Graveside rites conducted by Clyde A. Erwin High School JROTC. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 P.M.
