Laura Welch Embler

Alexander - Laura Lucille Welch Embler, 80, of 1125 Old Hwy#20, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday - February 7, 2006 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Cadillac, Mich., she had resided in Buncombe County since 1958. She was a member of Alexander Baptist Church for 45 years and her hobbies were homemaking and gardening. She was a graduate of Mesick H.S. in Mesick, Mich. She was the daughter of the late William Bill Welch and Ada Houghtaling Travis. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, John N. Embler of the home; son, Raymond Jackson and wife Christine of Asheville; daughters, Ramona Shelton and husband Jim of Knoxville, Tn. and Ronda Payne and husband Mark of Candler; grandchildren, Debbie Robertson, Jacqueline Ellingwood and Paul Lewis, Jr.; great grandchildren, Jackson and Jessica Robertson, Brittany Babb, Colten, Hayden and Jordan Ellingwood. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Claude Surrett, Rev. Gerald Sprinkle and Mr. Ray Moore officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery with Terry Gaylord, Mark Payne, Bobby Ellingwood, Colten Ellingwood, Jim Shelton and Dale Robertson serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
