Asheville Larry Elmer Webb, 61, of 103 Dix Creek Chapel Road passed away Thursday, November 10, 2005 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 2005 from Waste Management of Asheville following 24 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He attended Georgetown Baptist Church and Aaron Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Richard Vernon Webb and Selena Marie Miller Webb and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Darlene Webb. Surviving are his wife, Lavenia Bridges Webb of the home; daughter, Karen Webb Grooms and husband, Doug of Leicester; sons, Jerry Webb of Sandy Mush and Phillip Webb and wife, Sherry of Asheville; grandchildren, Amanda Marler, Payton Webb, Selena Webb and Braelyn Grace Grooms; sisters, Joan Devore and husband, Gene of Candler and Linda Boyd and husband, Ralph of Sandy Mush; brothers, Jim Webb of McKees Rock, PA, Jerry Webb and wife, Linda of Greenville, TN and Bobby Webb and wife, Helen of Leicester. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastors Gary Fender, Dan Stephenson and Keith Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Heavens gain, earths loss. A loving man with strong family values and commitment. A man of few words whose life spoke volumes. A gentle man who was a great influence to those who knew him. A man who cared for and supported his wife and children. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. While we are sad, now in Heaven there is a glad reunion with Larry, his baby Sharon, his mom and dad! What a day that will be when we also join them there.
