Kevin Mills

Candler Jonathan Kevin Mills, 34, of Candler, went home to be with Jesus Saturday, July 4, 2009 at his home following a long battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was the son of Susan Currence Mills Price and the late John Evans Mills and was a 1993 graduate of Enka High School. Kevin was a former AMA Supercross and Motorcross professional racer, as well as an avid sportsman. He loved to deer hunt, fish and golf and was a loving husband, father and son. Kevin was owner and operator of Mountain Heritage Backhoe and Tractor Services and was a member of Alexander Baptist Church. Kevin leaves behind his loving wife, Rena Blackwell Mills, of the home; daughters, Malorie and Faith Mills, of the home; mother, Susan Currence Mills Price and husband, Rick of Candler; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David D. and Betty Tweed Blackwell of Alexander; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Currence of Asheville; two brothers-in-law: Lester Blackwell and wife Donna and Doug Blackwell, all of Alexander; and three aunts, Phyllis Ginn of Marietta, GA, Linda Adams and Vicki Redmon, both of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday at Alexander Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gerald Sprinkle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
