Kenneth Vance

Flat Rock - Kenneth Herbert Vance, 85, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the Elizabeth House. A native of Bluefield, WV, he had resided in Northlake, IL from 1953 to 1992 and resided in Buncombe County from 1992 to 2001 prior to moving to Henderson County. He retired from GTE Telephone Company in Chicago, IL, and served in the US Army following World War II, and in the US Navy during the Korean War. While in Chicago, Mr. Vance served as a Teen Pastor in his church. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he served in the Nursing Home Ministry. He also served as a Bus Minister for over 40 years. Mr. Vance was the son of the late Kenneth Myrle Vance and Blanche Kale Vance and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Carl, Virgil and Harold Vance. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Louise Lisenbee Vance of the home; son, Daniel Jay Vance and wife Cindy of Dandridge, TN; daughter, Tami Rae Parcell and husband Richard of Asheville and grandsons, Jason Parcell and wife Sabrina, and Aaron Parcell. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr., Rev. Allen Rash and Rev. Donnie Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:00 2:15 PM Sunday prior to the service at the church.
