Black Mounain Maynard Kenneth Ken Curtis, 74, of 12 Alpine Shadow Lane, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at the NC State Veterans Home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired as a former insurance salesman and mail carrier for the US Post Office. He was a 1963 graduate of AC Reynolds High School and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Curtis was a son of the late Maynard and Pat Curtis and was also preceded in death by his sister, Patsy Curtis, brother, Dean Curtis and sister-in-law, Lisa Curtis. Surviving are his sister, Wanda Roland with whom he made his home; brother, Sonny Curtis of Asheville; nieces, Patsy and Amy; nephews, Tracy, Bill, Robert and Brandon; great nieces, Bryleigh and Anna Grace and great nephew, Cooper. Memorial Services will be held at 10 AM Friday, June 22, 2018 in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Tim Earwood officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the NC National Guard. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the cemetery.
