Justine Hope Mollenkopf

Arden - Justine Shoemaker Mollenkopf, 88, died on January 28, 2010 in Arden, NC following a recent stroke. Justine was born May 9, 1921 in Bucyrus, OH, and was the daughter of Ivan R. Shoemaker and Lydia (Kissling) Shoemaker. She was raised on the family farm in Liberty Township, OH and graduated from Holmes Liberty High School Class of 1939. She attended Marion Business School and was employed as an office manager and bookkeeper most of her life. She married Howard J. Mollenkopf of Bucyrus in 1942. The couple lived in Ohio for many years, and later in Florida. Justine was an accomplished quilter, and enjoyed making hand-pieced quilts for many family members and friends. She was a longtime member and past President of the Space Coast Quilters Guild of Titusville, FL. Justine is survived by her sister, Peggy Striker of Bucyrus; son Rick Mollenkopf of Arden; four grandchildren: Kira Segebarth, Knoxville, TN, Ilsa Mollenkopf, Black Mountain, Jennifer Lehman, St. Augustine, FL, and Abby Johnson, Titusville, FL; and three great-grandchildren: Madison Segebarth, Brittany Lehman and Morgan Lehman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her daughter, Sherry Johnson, Titusville; and her beloved dog Susie. A private family gathering will be held in North Carolina to celebrate Justines life. Arrangements are handled by Anders-Rice Funeral Home, Asheville, NC. Donations in memory of Justine may be made to the American Cancer Society.
