ASHEVILLE Della Jurelle Melton Smith, 76, of 156 Little Ave., Elizabethton, TN, was carried to the Lord by Angels Sunday, October 28, 2007 at the Brian Center of Weaverville. Mrs. Smith was a native of Yancey County and resided in Buncombe County most of her life prior to moving to Elizabethton in 1983. She retired from Carter County Bank, was a member of Roan Street Church of God and was an avid pianist and vocalist. She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Grace Mae McKinney Melton and was also preceded in death by her former husband, Cairl Smith; brothers, David Vance Melton and Ronnie Melton; sister, Doris Ella Mae Sluder. Surviving are her daughters, Diane Smith of Woodfin, Susan Rhodes and husband Tommy of Asheville and Rhnee Range and husband Mark of Elizabethton; granddaughters, Regina Jurelle Jenkins of Woodfin and Megan Smith of Elizabethton; sisters, Lucy Anders of High Point and LaVerne Todd of Claxton, GA and brothers, Powell Melton of Elizabethton and Rev. Lewis Carroll Melton of Black Mountain. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Lewis Carroll Melton and Rev. Art Webb officiating. Burial will be at McKinney-Hall Family Cemetery, Yancey County. Pallbearers will be Marc Keene, Mike, Ricky and Rusty Melton, Donnie Ray McKinney, Curtis Sluder, Billy Stanbery, Coleman, Randy and Mitchell Teague, H.D. Ammons and Kevin Smith. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the home of Tommy and Susan Rhodes, 312 Macedonia Rd.
