Julia M. Dyer

May 16, 1924 — February 15, 2005

Asheville Julia Erwin Dyer, 80, of 19 Irving St., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was member of Richland Baptist Church. She had worked for Mills Manufacturing as a sewing machine operator. Ms. Dyer loved to quilt, and enjoyed spending her time bird watching. She was the daughter of the late Willard and Orlia Wright Erwin, and the wife of DV Dyer, who passed away January 23, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her son, Edward Jimmy Dyer; a sister, Edith Graves, and her brothers: Nathaniel, Edward, Frederick, Oscar, and George Erwin. Surviving are her children: Jo Ann Waddell and Donald Gene Dyer and wife Raina of Fletcher; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wade Zachary officiating. Burial will be in the Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.
