Juanita Edwards Carter

Fletcher/Fairview - Juanita Edwards Carter, 87, of Concord Road went to be with her Lord Thursday, October 21, 2010. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Fletcher since 1947. Along with her husband Dean, they founded Sunrise Acres and Carters Homes. She was the third of only eight inducted in the Clayton Homes Hall of Fame and was listed in Whos Who in America. She was Co-Founder and Charter Member of Trinity of Fairview where she was a former song leader, organist and Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was currently assistant Sunday School Teacher and Choir Member. She was Co-Founder of Cane Creek Community Center, was active with the PTA in Fairview and Reynolds High School and former School Board Member. She graduated Valedictorian from Mars Hill High School. She was a 1942 graduate of Mars Hill College. She was a former 4-H Leader of Cane Creek Community and current Cane Creek Community Club President. She served on the Board of Buncombe County Extension Advisory Council. She and Dean loved to travel and also took over 80 trips with Christian Tours. Juanita was the daughter of the late Arles Johnson Edwards and Pearl Fisher Edwards, wife of Harold Dean Carter who died November 21, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Edwards. Surviving are her children, Sandra Fletcher & husband Kim of Marietta, GA. Myron Carter & wife Sharon and Neil Carter & wife Lynn all of Fletcher; Selma Allen & husband Philip of N. Augusta, SC. Brother, Hugh Edwards & wife Jean of Weaverville; sister-in-law, Alta Edwards of Weaverville. Grandchildren, Mike Fletcher & wife Beth, Shannon Carter, Sherrie Carter, Brent Carter & wife Natalie, Nichole Carter Young & husband Jeremy, John Allen & wife Jenny, Wendy Allen Webb & husband Jason, Candace Allen, Parker Allen. Great-grandchildren, Samantha Fletcher, Katie Fletcher, Josiah Carter, Emma & Ethan Allen and Colson & Joel Webb. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday at Trinity of Fairview, 646 Concord Road, Fletcher, with Rev. Stacey Harris and Rev. Steve Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8:30 P.M. Saturday at the church. Flowers are appreciated, however for those that wish, memorials may be made to: Trinity of Fairview, 646 Concord Road, Fletcher, NC 28732 or Cane Creek Community Center, 600 Concord Road, Fletcher, NC 28732 or ones favorite charity. Mrs. Carters children would appreciate notes, stories and/or pictures of special memories with Mom.
