Joyce Swafford Roper

Fairview - Joyce Swafford Roper, 72, of 37 Windy Acres Dr. died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at Mission Hospitals. A native of Macon County, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1959. She was retired from the Baptist Book Store, which is now Lifeway Christian Store, was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Roper was the daughter of the late Rev. Arvil and Laura Potts Swafford. Surviving are her husband, Clarence H. Roper of the home; son, Ron C. Roper of Asheville, daughter, Kim L. Roper of Fairview; grandchildren, Rick Roper of Fairview and Jeremy Roper of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Thad Dowdle, Harold Savell, and Todd Royal officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oakley. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
