Joseph Odell Browning

Arden - Joseph Odell Browning, 64, of 29 Azalea Road, died unexpectantly Saturday December 13, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He retired in 1990 as a Communication Technician from Progress Energy (CP&L) after 30 years of service. Mr. Browning was a member of Arden Presbyterian Church and an U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a son of the late Joseph Trumar Clay Browning and Georgia Juanita Bailey Browning Tinsley and husband of Joanna Graham Browning who died September 27, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Norma Jane Corn. Surviving are his daughter, Jennifer Lynn Browning of Asheville; sons, Joseph C. Browning and wife, Marsha of Asheville and James Emmett Browning and wife, Kathy of Conyers, GA; grandchildren, Jeremiah Joseph Browning of Asheville, Eric Dean Phillips and wife, Lauren of Southside, Alabama, Jacob Land Browning and Kristina Browning both of Conyers, GA. and Malina Sprouse of Asheville; sister-in-law, Sharon Bacek and husband, Donald of Dahlonega, GA; brothers-in-law, Ralph S. Graham and wife, Pamela of Alpharetta, GA and William Graham and wife, Kathy of Marietta, GA; several nieces and nephews and best friend, Mary Fore of Arden. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Chrystal Cook officiating. Entombment will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park with military rites conducted by the Erwin High School R.O.T.C. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Joseph and Marsha Browning, 3 Jett Court, Asheville.
