Asheville - Joseph L. Vinzant, 61, of 677 Fairview Road, died Monday August 6, 2007 at his residence. A native of Tallahassee, FL, he had lived in Asheville for the last 24 years. He was the son of the late Joseph Allen and Ethel Maige Vinzant. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Marlene Wainwright. Surviving are his wife, Myra Carol Vinzant of the home; sons, William G. Vinzant and Joseph A. Vinzant both of Asheville; daughter, Miranda K. Vinzant of Asheville; sister, Vernelle de la Houssaye of Louisville, KY; granddaughter, Gracie Vinzant and many nieces and nephews. He was a special person deeply admired by those who loved him. He was a courageous strong-minded man who lived life with character and conviction. A U.S. Army Veteran, he proudly served in the Vietnam War. His family will greatly miss his unique humor and steady presence. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Calvary Churchyard with Pastors Jerry Young, Rick Lamb and Larry Nix officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
