Asheville, NC - Johnson Elmer Robinson, 82, of 22 Broadview Avenue, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at his residence following a period of declining health. A native of McDowell County, Elmer had resided most of his life in Buncombe County. He worked as a security officer for Mission Hospitals for 23 years. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, participating in the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day. Elmer was the son of the late Arthur and Nellie Farmer Robinson. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mary Hayes Robinson, of the home; son, Curtis Robinson and wife Marilyn of Asheville; daughter, Delia Stroupe of Asheville; grandchildren: John, Tiffany, Stephanie, Sean, Joseph, and Emma; great-grandchildren: Cheyenne, Seirra, Courtney, Alicia, and Trent Dean; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
