Johnny Keith Howell

Alexander - Johnny Keith Howell, 50, of 1080 Old Hwy #20 died Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was a son of the late Johnny H. Howell and Agnes Sluder Howell. He was an avid NASCAR racing fan, sportsman and formerly played baseball at Owen High School. He was a machinist and a member of the 101st Airborne in the U.S. Army where he served in the Military Police stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Surviving are his sister, Karen Grant and husband, Winfred of Alexander; brother, James Kevin Howell of Marshall; aunts, Essie Wilson with whom he made his home and Emma Hargett and husband, Bill of Asheville; one niece; three nephews and good friend, Rick Bunn of Alexander. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Cantrell and Tom Simmons. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the funeral home. Private burial will be held Monday at the Western North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
