John L. Robinson

Fairview John Louis Robinson, 77, of 28 Dode Whitaker Road, died Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Asheville VA Medical Center. A native of Buncombe County. He retired from the Buncombe County Sheriff Department as Captain over the Warrant Division and was formerly employed with M.B. Haynes Electric Company and Asheville Electric as Foreman and Lineman. He served in the U.S. Army Korean War. Mr. Robinson was a son of Annie Mae Ramsey Robinson of Asheville and the late Ralph John Robinson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence Hollifield and Ralph Robinson, Jr. and sister, Lois Ann Robinson. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of 51 years, Lora Whitaker Robinson of the home; children, Pam Ellison (Swan) of Del Rio, TN, Shelia Anderson of Weaverville, John Scott Robinson (Ruth Ann), Steven Robinson (Trace Ann), Kathy Hutchinson (Rockie) all of Fairview, Jerry Robinson (Sue) of Pennsylvania and Phillip Robinson (Kelly) of Fairview; sisters, Jessie Green and Mary Williams (Fred) both of Asheville; brother, Boyd Robinson of Asheville; 15 Grandchildren and 10 Great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 6 PM Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Parham and Rev. Keith Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 10 AM Tuesday at Cane Creek Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team.
