John L. Mcgeary

Asheville John Lynn McGeary, 80, of 334 Barton Road, went to be with his Lord on Monday, November 26, 2012 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. Born in Brackenridge, PA, he was raised in Cary, NC and had been a resident in Buncombe County for many years. He retired following 23 years of service from the U.S. Army where he had served two tours in Vietnam as a Green Beret from 1964-1967. At the time of his retirement, he was a Master Sergeant and he later in civilian life retired from Beacon Manufacturing Company. Mr. McGeary was a son of the late John Kennedy and Gladys Fore McGeary. Surviving are his wife, Pauline Polly Lominac McGeary of the home; daughters, Lynn Wood and husband Joe and Melanie McGeary all of Weaverville and Deirdre Greeley and husband Keith of Hattiesburg, MS; sons, John K. McGeary and wife Lynne of Weaverville and C. Andrew McGeary and wife Kersten of Edneyville; several grandchildren; one great grandson; sister, Sandy McIntosh and husband Bruce of Englewood, FL; brothers, Donnie McGeary and wife Agnes of Asheville and Billy McGeary and wife Mary of Newport News, VA and several nieces and nephews. No services are planned at this time.
