John E. Renau, Jr.

Asheville John Edward Renau, Jr., 76, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Charleston, SC, he had resided in Asheville since 1978. He retired in 1984 from Life of Georgia Insurance Company where he served as an Insurance Agent and was a recipient of Top Salesman of the Year for several years, was of the Baptist faith and served in the US Marines where he was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Renau was a son of the late John Edward Renau, Sr. and Christine Rorke Spielbush. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy and Dickie. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Jan Renau of the home; sons, John Edward Johnny Renau, III of Leicester and John Michael Mike Renau (Sheila) of Candler; step mother, Fran Renau of California; sister, Joan English and brother, David Renau both of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Mark Chase officiating. Burial will follow in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the: Victory Baptist Church Building Fund, 80 Olivette Road, Asheville, NC 28804.
