Jimmy Byron Skelton

Asheville - Jimmy Byron Skelton, 72, of 80 Riverview Church Rd. died Saturday, December 20, 2003 at Aston Park Health Care Center. A native of Hartwell, GA, he had lived in Buncombe County for most of his life. He was the son of the late Elbert and Minnie Scott Skelton. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Dricker Skelton of Asheville; daughters, Melinda McCoy of Asheville, Meritta Mashburn of Fletcher, and Mary Overton of Hendersonville; step sons, Jimmy Brinkley of Hot Springs, Richard Brinkley of Fairview, Marvin Brinkley and Alfred Brinkley, both of Asheville; step daughter, Martha Raines of Asheville; brother, Wade Skelton of Fletcher; Lillian Sanders of Hartwell, GA, Mary Erwin of Waco, TX, and Alma Goings of Guyman, OK; 5 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday in the Anders-Rice Funereal Home Chapel with the Revs. Gary Clements and Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
