Asheville Arizona Jim Plemmons, Jr., 92, went to be with his Lord on Monday, January 30, 2017 at his home. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 1981 from Mason-Dixon Truck Line as a truck driver for 33 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local Union #61 and was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII. He was a 1943 class member of Leicester High School. Mr. Plemmons was the son of the late Arizona Plemmons, Sr. and Addie Gillespie Plemmons. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Gayle Lunsford and granddaughter, Bonita Ann Sebastian. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a man who was loved by all. Surviving are his wife, Amy Sue McCall Plemmons of the home; daughters, Barbara Cagle, Bonnie Plemmons, Billie Plemmons and Lisa Plemmons all of Asheville; son, Jimmy Plemmons (Trisha) of Waynesville; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Everette C. Haney, Jr. officiating, along with military honors conducted by the US Navy. Burial will be held at Green Hills Cemetery. His grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
