Jim Hart

Asheville James Ledford Jim Hart, Jr., 71, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Valor Hospice at the Charles George VA Medical Center. A native of Buncombe County, he retired in 2004 following 43 years of service with BASF and retired in 1996 following 25 years of service with the NC National Guard, having served in Desert Storm. He was a member of the Biltmore Masonic Lodge #446 and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and NASCAR. Mr. Hart was the son of the late James Ledford Hart, Sr. and Maude Lollis Hart. Surviving are his wife whom he married October 22, 1983, Jan Livengood Hart of the home; daughter, Jackie Goldsmith and husband Danny of Candler; step daughters, Jan Haring and husband Bob of Pace, FL, Diana Marler and husband Floyd of Asheville and Amy Shelton and husband Tim of Gray, TN; step son, David Livengood of Hendersonville; 1 granddaughter; 5 step grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren and his four legged baby, Miss Sophie. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with military honors to be conducted by the NC National Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
