Jessie M. Smith

Asheville - Jessie Mildred Crowder Smith, 70, of 487 Emma Road, died Tuesday April 29, 2003 at Mountain Area Hospice. A native of Swain County, NC. She had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She was a former nurses aid in the Asheville area hospitals. Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Oscar Henry and Minnie Frances Collins Crowder. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank Crowder; sisters, Helen Ledford, Edna LeClere, Minnie Gutierrez and Bobbie Jean Crowder. Surviving are her husband, Robert Neil Smith; daughter, Patty Page Owen and husband, Gary Lee of Asheville; sons, Ricky Crowder and girl friend Judy Ray of Leicester, Jimmy J. Page and wife, P.J. of Granite Falls, NC, Johnny R. Page of Sylva and Bobby Page of Asheville; sisters, Naomi Fuller of Bryson City, Ruth Jangrew of Springfield, MA, Annie Kirkland of Bryson City, Willie Garren of Canton and Polly Taylor of Canton; brother, Jackie Joe Crowder of Whittier, NC; grandchildren, Gary William Owen, Riley Page and Amber Carver; one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Butch Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends following service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mrs. Smiths family c/o Patty Page Owen, 487 Emma Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
