Jerry Rice

Leicester Jerry Dixon Rice, 66, of 1744 Bear Creek Road, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 at his home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 2005 from CP&L following 39 years of service, was a member of Street Tiques of Asheville and was a 1964 graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School. Mr. Rice was a son of the late George Lee Rice and Opal Lovena Caldwell Rice and husband of Sharon Lee Elingburg Rice who died December 29, 2011. Surviving are his son, Steven Rice and wife Lani of Pensacola, FL; daughters, Shari Rice Clark and husband Kyle of Greer, SC and Kayla Rice of Columbus; grandchildren, Kyle, Nikki, Malina, Ariana, Raven and Kason; great grandson, Kai; sister, Irma West and husband Nathan of Asheville; brothers, Harry Lee Rice of Asheville and Roger Rice and wife Ann of Asheville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Friday, April 19, 2013 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 1:45 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
