Jefferson William "Jeff" May Jr.

Jefferson Jeff William May, Jr., 65, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at his residence. Jeff was a son of the late Jefferson William May, Sr. and Edith Mayo May. He graduated from Enka High School in 1971, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church. He was also a member and Past Master of Hominy Lodge #491 A.F. & A.M., a member of Veritas Lodge #769 A.F. & A.M., Valley of Asheville Scottish Rite, The Land of The Sky Shrine Club, and Oasis Shriners. Jeff was a loving father and grandfather and his grandchildren meant the world to him. He is survived by his children: Jefferson Davis May and wife Amanda of Candler, and Carolyn Michele May of Asheville; grandchildren: Olivia Hope May and Jaxon Alexander May; sister, Holly May Norton of Asheville; brother, Timothy Carlton May and wife Julie of Fletcher; nieces and nephew: Megan, Benjamin, Molly, and Emma. Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, April 3, 2018, in the chapel at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, with Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the N.C. National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 PM Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Hominy Lodge #491 will perform Masonic Funeral Honors at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jeffs name to the Masonic Home for Children, 60 College St., Oxford, NC 27563, or to the Shriners Hospital for Children, C/O Oasis Shrine Temple Charlotte, 604 Doug Mayes Place, Charlotte, NC 28262.
